NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has earned another early verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Blakely Schuricht of Scottsdale, Az.

She will join Lone Star State native Hadley Beeson as a member of the Aggies’ Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I am incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University. I want to thank my family, coaches, and friends for helping me get here. I also want to thank God for this opportunity. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing group of people!! Gig’em!!!”

Schuricht, who trains year-round with Scottsdale Aquatic Club, most recently finaled in four events at Four Corner Sectionals last month after picking up three best times at Arizona Seniors. She collected bronze in the 200 breast at Arizona Seniors in 2020 and raced three events at Juniors West in 2019.

Her best times include:

Currently a junior at Chapparal High School, Schuricht is a five-time individual Arizona DI State Championship finalist. She placed third in the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 IM in 2020 while taking second and fifth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is also the state record holder as a member of the 4×50 medley relay.

Schuricht will add valuable breaststroke depth to the Aggies’ roster beginning at the start of the 2022-23 season, as she would’ve been their fourth-fastest 200 breaststroker this past season. Under head coach Steve Bultman, Texas A&M finished sixth overall in the team standings at the 2021 SEC Championships.
