2019 Big Ten Women’s Championship Day 2 Finals: Indiana Relay, Nelson Set B1G Records
The first full finals session of the 2019 Big Ten Women’s Championship will feature finals of the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free.
Michigan continued its strong distance performance during the morning session, while Beata Nelson of Wisconsin broke a Big Ten record in the 200 IM.
But it was Indiana that set a Big Ten meet record in the 400 medley relay to close the night with the lead.

500 Free
Minnesota senior Chantal Nack surged to a pool record in the 500 free, clocking a 4:36.55 to win the Big Ten title in the event.
Nack dropped four seconds from her prelim time to hold off teammate Mackenzie Padington (4:37.27).
Michigan’s Rose Bi finished third in 4:37.63 to finish nearly two seconds ahead of Penn State’s Ally McHugh (4:39.32).
Ohio State’s Molly Kowal, who had the top seed in prelims, finished fifth in 4:39.48.
Michigan’s Becca Postoll (4:39.99) and Sierra Schmidt (4:40.84) went six-seven, ahead of Indiana’s Cassandra Jernberg (4:41.49).

Wisconsin’s Beata Nelson dropped even more time from her Big Ten record in the 200 IM, holding off a late-surging Siobhan Haughty for the title in 1:52.27.
Haughey, a Michigan senior, finished in 1:52.36.
Indiana’s Bailey Andison took third in 1:53.27 ahead of teammate Lilly King (1:54.93).
Northwestern’s Calypso Sheridan finished fifth in 1:55.77, followed by Ohio State’s Kathrin Demler (1:56.63) and Indiana’s Mackenzie Looze (1:57.04).
Wisconsin’s Lillie Hopsack was disqualified.

Michigan held its seeds and went 1-2-4 in the 50 free behind freshman Maggie MacNeil who win in 21.65, breaking the pool record.
Michigan’s Catie DeLoof was second (21.88) and Daria Pyshnenko was fourth in 22.23, finishing behind Ohio State’s Freya Rayner (22.16).
Ohio State’s Taylor Petrak was fifth (22.40), followed by Minnesota’s Zoe Avestruz (22.63), Iowa’s Hannah Burvill (22.71) and Wisconsin’s Emmy Sehmann (22.73).
