HARARE, Zimbabwe, September 25. THIS weekend at the Mashoaland Junior League meet, Samantha Welch, 11, broke a 13-year-old Zimbabwe junior record previously held by Kirsty Coventry, according to a report published in The Herald.
Welch clocked a readout of 48.26 in the 66 yard breaststroke to break the Under-12 standard of 48.92 previously set by Coventry in November of 1994. Additionally, the time would have given Welch the record in the next age group, currently held by Nicola Bradshaw with a 48.28 set in 1999.
