YMCA National Finalist Emily Ally Verbally Commits to Pitt Panthers

NEW COMMIT: Greensboro, N.C. native and Junior National qualifier Emily Ally has announced her commitment to continue her academic and swimming career at the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2021.

She will join Beaux HoffmanSophie Knepper, Sydney AtkinsSydney RodriquezTess MockAvery McFadden, Jill Berger and Mia Sunseri as members of the Panthers’ class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely humbled to verbally announce my commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at the University of Pittsburgh. This past year has been unlike any other. I know this is the best decision for me because of the opportunity to swim under the tutelage of fantastic coaches, and the great group of ladies that I will have the privilege of training with, while pursuing my academic career. I’m truly excited to join the Pitt Swim Team! I would like to thank my mom & family, who are my biggest supporters, and who have unlocked the doors of possibilities, while providing every opportunity to make my future goals a reality. To my amazing coaches who saw my passion and challenged my resilience and grace, and to my teammates & friends along the way who provided their continued support. So excited for the next four years! Go Panthers!! #H2P”

A versatile swimmer, Ally does her club swimming with the Greensboro YMCA and most recently finished fifth in the 100 back and seventh in the 50 free at North Carolina Seniors in December. She raced three events at Juniors East in December and finished ninth in the 50m fly and 12th in the 50m free at YMCA LCM Nationals last summer.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.37
  • 100 free – 53.14
  • 50 back – 26.20
  • 100 back – 56.18
  • 50 fly – 26.00
  • 100 fly – 56.12
  • 200 IM – 2:07.80

Also competing for Page High School, Ally is a four-time North Carolina 4A State Championship finalist. She placed fourth in the 50 free as a junior while taking 11th in that event during her sophomore season. As a freshman, she raced to ninth in the 50 free and 10th in the 100 free.
