Pitt Adds Verbal Commitments from Beaux Hoffman, Sophie Knepper to Class of 2025

NEW COMMITS: The University of Pittsburgh has received a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Meadows Place, Texas native Beaux Hoffman and Sophie Knepper of Chesapeake, Va.

Both talented swimmers will join Sydney AtkinsSydney Rodriquez, Tess MockAvery McFadden, Jill Berger and Mia Sunseri as members of the Panthers’ class of 2025.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so so happy to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swim and study at the University of Pittsburgh!! I am forever grateful for all of my friends, family, and coaches who have made this possible. I cannot wait to be apart of this amazing family, go panthers!!!”

Hoffman, who does her club swimming with Swim Houston Aquatics Center , had four top-10 finishes at the KMSC Pro-Am Classic in December. She was the runner-up in the 100m fly, 200m fly, and 200m IM at the Gulf Summer Champs last year and then earned three best times at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 25.94
  • 100 fly – 54.99
  • 200 fly – 2:02.59
  • 200 IM – 2:06.07
  • 400 IM – 4:29.67

Also competing for John Foster Dulles High School, Hoffman is a three-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed fifth in the 100 fly during her junior campaign while taking seventh in that event as a sophomore and 10th as a freshman.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh. I am beyond thankful for my family, coaches and friends that have been there every step of the way to help me in this process. I am so excited to be a Pittsburgh Panther! #H2P”

Knepper swims year-round with Tide Swim Team and most recently recorded three best times at Virginia Seniors in March where her highest finish was a 12th-place showing in the 200 back. Last summer, she finaled in five events at Virginia LCM Seniors before going on to race three events at Geneva Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 56.87
  • 200 back – 2:03.05
  • 100 free – 52.20
  • 200 free – 1:52.34
  • 200 IM – 2:09.48

A current senior at Great Bridges High School, Knepper is a six-time Virginia Class 4 State Championship finalist. She earned silver in both the 100 back and 100 free as a junior while taking second in the 100 back and fourth in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.
