COLLEGE PARK, Maryland, July 27. THE first night of action at the YMCA Long Course Championships held in College Park, Md., featured the 1500 freestyles.
Middle Tyger's Laura Simon won the women's 1500 free in a meet record time of 16:59.47. The performance wiped out the 17:02.80 set by E. Ballenger or Spartanburg back in 1999. Winston-Salem's Kelly Ann Baird placed second in 17:05.22, while West Shore's Carly Munchel finished third in 17:08.59.
South Family's Ty Perkins captured the men's 1500 free in 15:59.42. Wilton's Robby Harder touched second in 16:13.37, while North Shore's Tim Bouvier placed third in 16:20.15.
