NEW COMMIT: NC State has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Abby Woolford of Beavercreek, Ohio.

She will join Hayley Clark and Keelan Cotter in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2027.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at NC State University.  From the moment I stepped on campus, met the coaches and the team, it felt like home. I can’t wait to be a part of the Wolfpack family!  Go Pack!”

Woolford does her club swimming with the Dayton Raiders and finished 11th in the 200m back at Richmond Futures after taking fifth in the 400m free at Indy Sectionals this past summer. She most recently raced at the MAKO Tim Myers Senior Meet, earning three best times and winning the 500 free.

Her best times include:

  • 200 back – 1:59.78
  • 100 back – 56.75
  • 500 free – 4:53.73
  • 200 free – 1:49.68
  • 100 free – 52.05

Currently a junior at Beavercreek High School, Woolford was the runner-up in both the 200 and 500 free at the 2021 Ohio State Championships. She finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in those events during her freshman season.

Under head coach Braden Holloway, NC State finished and were the runners-up at both the ACC and NCAA Championships in 2021.
