Wheaton Invitational Day One
Wheaton, Illinois, November 30. THE Thunder swim teams are hosting the 2007 Wheaton Invitational this weekend in the Chrouser Aquatic Center.
UW-Milwaukee leads the women's competition with 449 points, Grand Valley State is second with 315 points, Wheaton is third with 288 points, Hope is fourth with 263 points, UW-Stevens Point is fifth with 255 points, Washington University (Mo.) has scored 250 points in sixth place and North Central is seventh with 14 points.
UW-Milwaukee has scored 449 points to lead the men's standings, with Washington University (Mo.) in second with 325 points, Grand Valley State has scored 297 points in third place, Hope is fourth with 284 points, UW-Stevens Point is fifth with 280 points and Wheaton is sixth with 162 points.
Wheaton All-American Katherine Burt won the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.18-seconds to automatically qualify for the Division III Championships in March. Senior Kaitlin Marko finished third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:08.67 and Liz Hartman was third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.58. The foursome of Hartman, Burt, Bethany Jacobs and Leah Loefstedt won the women's 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.60 to provisionally qualify for the Division III Championships.
Wheaton's top men's performance was by Jonathan Nitz, finishing third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.57-seconds.
