USA Swimming Sectionals, West Lafayette: Three Individual Events Conclude Meet
WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana, July 24. THE USA Swimming Sectionals held in West Lafayette concluded with a final night of long course meter swimming.
Kingfish's Caroline Arakelian, 15, snared the women's 200 IM in 2:18.68. Firestone's Katelyn Miller, 15, took second in 2:20.77, while Boilermaker's Allison Smith placed third in 2:21.77. Duneland's Kyle Whitaker topped the men's 200 IM in 2:03.99. Ohio State's Justin Farra touched second in 2:05.30, while Dayton Raider J.K. Koehler finished third in 2:08.17.
Greater Toledo's Jacy Dyer picked up the women's 1500 free crown in 16:56.94. Club Wolverine's Briana Emig (17:08.28) and M.E. Lyons' Molly Hazelbaker, 16, (17:12.85) rounded out the podium. Lakeview's Clay Youngquist stopped the clock in 8:20.64 for the men's 800 free victory, while M.E. Lyons' Sean Monahan took second in 8:30.78. Boilermaker's Andrew Starr finished third in 8:30.94.
Springfield's Margo Geer raced to a win in the women's 100 free with a 56.68. Mason Manta Ray Danielle Barbiea grabbed second in 57.49, while Zionsville's Zoe Mattingly, 16, placed third in 57.66. Solon Star Ian Stewart-Bates hit the wall in 51.79 to win the men's 100 free. Upper Arlington's Eric Huffman snatched second in 52.16, while Northern Kentucky Clipper Jeffrey Morris took third in 52.34.
