USA Swimming Sectionals, West Lafayette: Caroline Arakelian Doubles Up
WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana, July 22. THE second evening of long course meter action at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in West Lafayette featured a double by Kingfish's Caroline Arakelian.
Arakelian won the women's 200 free in 2:03.70, while Club Wolverine's Liz Koselka took second in 2:04.32. Greater Toledo's Jacy Dyer placed third in 2:05.77. Arakelian doubled up with a 4:56.18 in the women's 400 IM for the win. Dyer took her second podium with a second-place 4:59.50, while Dayton Raider Abigail Galbreath placed third in 5:00.96.
Dayton Raider J.K. Koehler topped the men's 200 free in 1:52.99. Lakeview's Clay Youngquist placed second in 1:53.37, while Northern Kentucky Clipper Jeffrey Morris completed the podium with a third-place 1:54.39. Duneland's Kyle Whitaker dominated the men's 400 IM in 4:30.19. Northern Kentucky Clipper Shane Coltharp touched second in 4:35.10, while Carmel's Daniel Hasler picked up third in 4:35.18.
Ohio's Rachel Heim knocked off Kingfish's Madison White, 1:01.43 to 1:01.90, in the women's 100 fly. Mason Manta Ray Danielle Barbiea claimed third in 1:02.19. Ohio State's Quincy Lee put up a 54.28 to win the men's 100 fly. Spartan's Jacob Jarzen finished second in 54.55, while Boilermaker's Sam Wilcher earned third in 55.78.
