SANTA CLARITA, California, July 23. AS the only Sectional expanding to Sunday this weekend, the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Santa Clarita was bound to have a sparse night of long course meter competition. This evening, the 200 free and 400 IM were the only individual races on offer.
Lynette Lim earned the women's 200 free title in 2:03.68, while Jessica Heim finished second in 2:04.29. Megan Rankin completed the top three in 2:05.01. Garrett Thompson won the men's 200 free in 1:53.66, while Chase Nick took second in 1:54.35. Ryan Pickett wound up third overall in 1:54.65.
Rachel Grant claimed the women's 400 IM crown in 4:53.09. Kirstie Chen finished second in 4:54.57, while Shannyn Hultin grabbed third overall in 4:56.31. Justin DiFederico touched out Young Tae Seo, 4:31.44 to 4:31.65, in the men's 400 IM. Brian Westlake pocketed third-place honors with a time of 4:35.06.
