USA Swimming Sectionals, Santa Clarita: Distance Events Open Meet

SANTA CLARITA, California, July 21. THE first night of long course competition at the Santa Clarita sectionals featured distance races, with Megan Rankin and John Mendoza picking up the meet's first wins.

Rankin won the women's 1500 free in 16:47.36, well ahead of Lynette Lim's second-place time of 17:06.53. Jessica Heim finished third with a 17:14.94.

Mendoza won the men's 800 free with a time of 8:21.87. Rounding out the podium were Brennan Jacobsen with an 8:23.70 and Konrad Antoniuk with an 8:25.11.
