USA Swimming Sectionals, Nashville: Third Night Comes to Close
NASHVILLE, Tennessee, March 8. THE third night of swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Nashville, Tenn., came to a close with SwimMAC-Carolina and the Stingrays claiming the bulk of the titles.
Brooke Watson, 16, of the Memphis Tigers touched out Amber Leiker, 16 of SwimMAC-Carolina in the women's 200 fly, 2:16.25 to 2:16.87. MAC turned the tables in the men's 200 fly as Jeremy Knowles won in 2:01.13.
Rachel Komisarz of Lakeside snagged the women's 50 free title in 25.85, while Mike Smit of MAC earned the men's 50 free in 23.56.
In the 200 breast events, Kristin Polley, 16, of the Stingrays dominated the women's event in 2:33.57, while Mark Gangloff of MAC crushed the competition in the men's event with a 2:14.77.
The Stingrays won another title, this time Erin Reisinger, 15, won the women's 100 back in 1:04.63 as she touched out Lauren Harrington, 15, who took second in 1:04.91. In the men's race, Doug Van Wie of MAC stopped the clock in 56.75 to win the event.
Carly Piper of MAC (4:16.84) and JP Arnold (4:00.75) completed the night with triumphs in the 400 frees.
