USA Swimming Sectionals, Minneapolis: Third Night in the Books
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, July 23. THE third night of long course meter action at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Minneapolis is in the books.
St. Charles' Emma Smith was listed as having won the women's 200 back with a 1:45.14, however, that time was due to results being reported from just her 150-meter mark split. Wisconsin's Maggie Meyer was listed second in 2:15.32, while Academy Bullet Olivia Scott was listed third in 2:18.46. Wildcat's Varun Shivakumar took the men's 200 back in 2:06.20, while Wisconsin's Jesse Stipak placed second in 2:06.44. Wildcat's Colin Cordes finished third in 2:06.87 in what was an exciting three-way finish.
Minnesota's Lissa Tommerdahl topped the women's 400 free in 4:21.10, while Wisconsin's Danielle Beckwith took second in 4:23.80. Wildcat's Kate Shumway placed third in 4:25.92. Minnesota's Alex Wold won the men's 400 free in 3:58.34, while Minnesota's David Hawker touched second in 3:59.43. Wildcat's Peter Park finished third in 4:01.35.
Sun Devil's Katie Olsen claimed the women's 100 breast in 1:08.99, while Wisconsin's Ashley Wanland finished second in 1:09.10. Patriot's Emily Fogle took third in 1:12.14. Peoria Area's Matt Elliott surfaced triumphant in the men's 100 breast with a 1:03.04, while Minnesota's Jared Anderson (1:03.82) and Wildcat's Kevin Puskaric (1:03.94) joined him under 1:04 to complete the podium.
Results from the men's and women's 100 fly were not made available by meet management.
