USA Swimming Sectionals, Indianapolis: Penultimate Day Comes to Close
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, March 29. THE second-to-last day of swimming came to a close at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Indianapolis at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI.
Women's Meet
Kate McNeilis, 15, of Westerville Aquatics snatched the 100 back time with a Trials cut of 1:03.61. Emily Bos, 16, of West Michigan Swimming (1:04.31) and Jessie Hammes, 16, of Carmel Swim Club (1:04.37) also posted Trials cuts.
Eva Lehtonen, 16, of the Oakland Live Y'ers won the 400 free in 4:19.97, while Megan Farrell of the Irish placed second in 4:23.93.
Michelle McKeehan of Center Grove led a quartet of Trials qualifiers with a meet-record time of 1:09.88 in the 100 breast. Tori Bagan, 15, of SWAC Swim (1:11.62), Sarah Stockwell of Indiana University (1:12.24) and Lindsay Rogers of Southeastern (1:12.48) also clocked Trials cuts.
Megan Fox, 15, of Novi Sturgeons won the 200 fly in 2:16.79, while Hilary Roberts, 17, of Asphalt Green took second in 2:17.08.
Carmel's contingent of Hammes, Lauren Stauder, Trish Regan and Megan Detro won the 400 medley relay in 4:24.39.
Men's Meet
Justin Carter, 16, of Clovis Swim posted a Trials cut to win the 100 back in 56.89 over Doug Spraul of Indiana University (58.42).
Brent Hitchcock of the Dayton Raiders won the 400 free with a Trials cut of 3:59.53, while Peter Benner of Savannah Swim took second in 4:02.34.
Elliott Keefer paced four Trials qualifiers in the 100 breast with a 1:03.86, while Kevin Swander of Indiana University finished second in 1:03.95. Spencer Hewes of Mason Manta Rays (1:04.53) and Nathan Butler or M.E. Lyons (1:04.61) rounded out the top four.
Alec Haley of Indiana University touched first in the 200 fly with a 2:04.17, while Aaron Buchanan, 16, of Dayton Raiders finished second in 2:04.92.
Cincinnati Marlins' team of Colin Hanner, Joe Albers, John Carroll and Sean Ransenberg won the 400 medley relay in 4:01.01.
