USA Swimming Sectionals, Indianapolis: Eric Solis Nabs Meet Record to Close Meet
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, March 30. THE final night of long course swimming at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI featured a mixed bag of sprint and distance events at the USA Swimming Sectionals.
IU's Allysa Vavra began the night with a 2:20.54 to win the women's 200 IM, while Cincinnati Marlin Alex Norris (2:21.36) and Oakland Live Y'er Megan Fox (2:22.24) finished second and third. West Michigan's Eric Solis claimed the men's 200 IM meet record with a time of 2:05.22, while IU's Kevin Happ (2:06.90) and OLY's Jan Hanulik (2:07.48) placed second and third.
Lafayette Area's Megan Gallagher earned the women's 1500 free title in 17:10.15, while Concord's Kayla Hussey took second in 17:22.20. Vavra picked up her second medal with a third-place 17:35.53. Andy Mueller of Ultimate Speed topped the men's 800 free with a time of 8:30.23, while Oakland Live Y'er Jon Ekleberry finished a close second in 8:30.78. Dayton Raider J.K. Koehler took third in 8:37.59.
West Michigan's Emily Bos touched first in the women's 100 free with a 56.52, while Greater Columbus' Gracie Finnegan placed second in 57.67. Westerville's Kate McNeilis claimed third in 57.87. IU's Ante Zoricic (51.09) and Cameron Owen (51.18) went 1-2 in the men's 100 free, while New Albany's Joe Doyle (51.25) finished just behind for third.
