FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 8. THE second-to-last night of swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Federal Way, Wash., came to a close Saturday.
Leona Jennings, 17, of King Aquatics picked up the victory in the women's 100 back in 1:03.01, while Jeff Ellingsen touched out Connor McCarroll, 16, of Tualatin Hills, 58.63 to 58.70, for the men's 100 back win.
In the middle distance free, Andie Taylor, 16, of King Aquatics won the women's 400 free in 4:13.73, while Alex Lendrum, 16, of Brophy East clinched the men's 400 free in 4:05.06.
Megan Jendrick of King Aquatics easily walked away with the women's 100 breast in 1:07.98, while Garren Riechel, 16, of StingRay took the men's 100 breast title in 1:04.09.
Whitney Lopus, 17, of Brophy East snatched the women's 100 fly title in 1:00.25, while teammate Kohei Kawamoto won the men's 100 fly in 54.02.
In relay competition, King's team of Mattie Kukors, Taylor, Svet Karpeeva and Jendrick won the women's 800 free relay in 8:22.19, while Tualatin Hills' team of Jonathan Rooker, Carlos Nunez, McCarroll and Morgon Henderson-Kunz snared the men's 800 free relay in 7:52.46.
