USA Swimming Sectionals, Federal Way: Arizona-Based Swimmers Dominate Final Night
FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 9. THE USA Swimming Sectional held in Federal Way, Wash., put the finishing touches on the meet with swimmers from Brophy East and Scottsdale Aquatics picking up the bulk of triumphs on the final night.
Ariana Kukors dominated the women's 200 IM with a time of 2:12.54 for the hosting King Aquatics. Meanwhile, Alex Lendrum, 16, of Brophy East earned the men's 200 IM title in 2:09.57.
Following a much quicker IM session, the metric mile came to the forefront with Ashley Evans, 16, of Brophy East winning the women's 1500 free in 16:43.70. Arizona-based swimmers won again as Tyler Pennington, 17, of Scottsdale Aquatics claimed the men's 1500 free in 16:18.51.
Once again, Arizona shined as Traycie Swartz, 15, of Brophy East hit the wall in 26.07 to win the women's 50 free, while Morgon Henderson-Kunz of Tualatin Hills earned the men's 50 free title in 23.15.
In relays, King Aquatics' team of Leona Jennings, Megan Jendrick, Lindsey Marchand and Andie Taylor won the women's 400 medley in 4:16.08, while Brophy East's quartet of Lendrum, Austen Thompson, John Wojciechowski and Kohei Kawamoto won the men's 400 medley in 3:55.74.
