USA Swimming Sectionals, Clovis: Third Night Features 200 Free, 400 IM
CLOVIS, California, July 24. THE third night of action at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Clovis, Calif., featured the 200 frees and 400 IMs over long course meters.
Santa Clara's Courtney Monsees won the women's 200 free in 2:00.43 with Terrapins' Chelsea Chenault finishing second in 2:00.74. La Mirada's Samantha Shellem touched third in 2:03.20. Garrett Thompson touched out Santa Barbara's Scott Vogelgesang, 1:52.51 to 1:52.75, in the men's 200 free. Penguin's Kyle Virva finished just behind with a 1:52.81.
Aquazot's Megan Rankin, 15, snared the women's 400 IM in 4:51.29. Swim Pasadena's Andrea Kropp touched second in 4:54.05, while Crow Canyon's Taylor Nanfria finished third in 4:55.13. Terrapins' Sean Mahoney dominated the men's 400 IM in 4:22.83. Lakeridge's Michael Weiss placed second in 4:28.80, while Aaron Casey took third in 4:28.89 swimming unattached.
