USA Swimming Sectionals, Cary: Sarah Henry Triples
CARY, North Carolina, March 7. RALEIGH Swim's Sarah Henry completed a fantastic day of swimming with a title trifecta at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Cary, N.C.
Henry opened the night with a winning time of 1:57.99 in the 200-yard fly. She came back later in the evening to hit the wall in 2:10.79 for the 200-yard breast title. She finished the night with a readout of 4:45.78 to grab the 500-yard free crown for her third triumph of the evening.
Greenville's Matt Houser collected the men's 200-yard fly title with a time of 1:45.78, while SwimMAC's Mark Gangloff took home the men's 200-yard breast in 1:58.12. SwimAtlanta's Will Freeman clinched the men's 500-yard free crown with a time of 4:20.34.
The sprint 50 frees provided some fireworks during the middle of the evening. SwimAtlanta's Amanda Weir smoked the women's event with a time of 21.99 for the win. Meanwhile, SwimMAC's Cullen Jones scorched a time of 19.19 for the men's triumph.
The 100-yard backstroke events also were part of the night. North Carolina's Carly Smith garnered the women's title in 54.19, while SwimMAC's Kip Darmody snagged the men's crown in 47.72.
