USA Swimming Sectionals, Brown Deer: Final Night Concludes
BROWN DEER, Wisconsin, March 15. THE final night of swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Brown Deer, Wis., came to a close.
South West's Brittany Walsh opened the last night of swimming with a top time of 16:51.14 in the women's 1650-yard free. Flying Fish CJ Smith followed with a 15:44.00 to win the men's 1650-yard free.
Katharine Anton of Cedar Rapids posted a 1:59.28 in the women's 200-yard back to beat the meet record of 1:59.70 set by Mary DeScenza in 2002. Meanwhile, Jacob Jarzen broke a Matt Grevers meet record with a 1:47.35 in the 200-yard back. Grevers held the previous record with a 1:45.65 set in 2003.
Stephanie Koch of Ames Cyclone won the women's 100-yard free in a time of 50.15, while Schroeder YMCA's Adam Mania took home the men's 100-yard free title in 44.62.
Peoria Area's Becky Stoughton captured the 200-yard fly crown in 2:04.21 out of lane one, while South West's Jack Lennertz topped the men's 200-yard fly in 1:50.01.
Birmingham's Jayme Groth, Samantha Arnold, Hayley Johnson and Karly Moore won the women's 400-yard free relay in 3:33.79, while New Trier's Samuel Metz, Joe Jeffers, Michael Dominski and Kyle Bubolz earned the men's 400-yard free relay title in 3:00.67.
