LONG BEACH, California, January 16. THE distance freestylers kicked off the USA Swimming Grand Prix held in Long Beach, Calif., this weekend.
Mission Viejo's Chloe Sutton crushed the competition in the 1000-yard free with a swift time of 9:33.50, while Athens Bulldog Mary DeScenza showed her range with a second-place 9:47.52. Piranha Swim's Lynette Lim rounded out the top three in 9:56.48.
Ous Melloui of Tunisia snatched the men's 1000 free title with a time of 8:54.17, while Boulder City's Zane Grothe took second in 9:09.79. California Capital's Evan Virtue pocketed third in 9:11.46.
