USA Swimming Grand Prix Leaderboard Update
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, January 23. YESTERDAY, USA Swimming announced a leaderboard update for the grand prize check of $20,000 to be awarded to the top point scorer in the Grand Prix series.
Mary DeScenza led the overall standings with 41 points after scoring five gold, five silver and one bronze medals during the course of the Minnesota and Long Beach Grand Prix meets.
Kaitlin Sandeno holds second with six gold, one silver and two bronze medals to finish with 36 points, while Michael Phelps is third with 28 points based on five gold and one silver.
The top prize will be awarded at the completion of the Omaha Grand Prix taking place June 5-8.
Swimmers earn points for each medal earned at a Grand Prix meet. Gold medals command five points, silver three and bronze one. The standings integrate male and female participants, and will recognize the swimmer with the highest cumulative point total.
