INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, June 21. TROY Dumais earned his third Olympic berth with a dominant three-session run in the men's three-meter at the USA Diving Olympic Trials held at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI.
After crushing the field in the preliminary and semifinal rounds, Dumais kept the momentum going during finals as he tallied a remarkable total of 1,552.90 to secure one of the U.S. spots in the event in Beijing.
Dumais is a true veteran of the sport. In 2004, he took sixth in the three-meter and finished sixth in the three-meter synchro with his brother Justin. In 2000, he also took sixth in the three-meter and snared fourth with Justin in the three-meter synchro.
The rest of the top six divers that will head to Knoxville, Tenn., for the final selection camp are Christopher Colwill (1,465.10), Justin Wilcock (1,363.40), Jevon Tarantino (1,362.80), 15-year-old Kristian Ipsen (1,304.45) and Hugh Showe (1,267.25). Dumais only has to show up at the camp to prove his physical ability to compete in Beijing, while the other five will battle for the final spot on the three-meter.
