U.S. Nationals Day 2 Finals: Kate Douglass, Alex Walsh Continue to Dominate Women’s 200 Breaststroke

The women’s 200 breaststroke has turned into a game of who can catch the Virginia party.

Kate Douglass and Alex Walsh have dominated the event in recent years and were well ahead of the field in prelims, looking to punch their tickets to the World Aquatics Championships.

In the Day 2 finals at the 2025 U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, the story was once again familiar.

The duo started with the lead as Douglass turned just ahead of Walsh at the 50.

By the 100, Douglass and Walsh were a body length ahead of the field, but hanging within a tenth of a second of each other.

At the 150, they were two body lengths ahead of the field and three tenths apart with Douglass just ahead.

Douglass never trailed, but it was close throughout. She won the race in 2:21.45.

Walsh finished second in 2:22.45 to claim the other World Championship spot.

They finished four seconds ahead of the field at US Nationals and continued the 1-2 punch that the country has become accustomed to.

Katie Cristopherson finished third in 2:26.65.
