IRVINE, California, August 7. LONGHORN's Eric Shanteau crushed the men's 200 breast with a world-class time at the U.S. Long Course Nationals. Shanteau posted a winning time of 2:10.09 to move into fourth in the world in the event. Only Ryo Tateishi (2:09.21), Brenton Rickard (2:09.31) and Yuta Suenaga (2:09.57) have been faster.
NBAC's Scott Spann won the race for second with a 2:12.26, while Ohio State's Elliott Keefer finished third in 2:12.68. Auburn's Adam Klein placed fourth in 2:13.05.
Tucson Ford's Clark Burckle (2:13.16), Mike Alexandrov (2:13.26) and Carl Mickelson (2:14.92) earned fifth through seventh, while Wilton Y's Christian Higgins completed the final field with an eight-place 2:15.22. Nashville's Curtis Lovelace captured the B final heat with a 2:14.10.
