TYR Pro Series Atlanta: Sjostrom-Comerford Matchup Highlights Field

The TYR Pro Swim Series continues with its second meet of the season. This time, Atlanta will be the host with several Olympians and top club swimmers scheduled to participate.

The meet is March 1-4 at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center and approximately 30 members of the USA Swimming National Team are expected to compete.

International stars are also slated to participate, making for some interesting head-to-head matches.

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom has the top seed in the 100 butterfly (55.48), followed by Kelsi Worrell (56.37). In the men’s 100 fly Tom Shields has the top spot at 51.20, six hundredths ahead of Jack Conger.

Russia’s Yulia Efimova has the top seed in the 200 breast (2:19.64). Josh Prenot has the top men’s seed at 2:07.17, just ahead of Kevin Cordes (2:07.41), in a field that also includes Will Licon, Cody Miller and Chase Kalisz.

Sjostrom also has the top seed in the 100 free (51.71) and should have an interesting battle with Louisville’s Mallory Comerford (52.59), swimming the event in preparation for the NCAA championships.

Meanwhile, Nathan Adrian is in the familiar top spot in the men’s 100 free (47.72).

Leah Smith is the top seed in the 800 free (8:17.22) with Clark Smith (7:50.43) and Zane Grothe (7:50.97) looking to face off in the men’s event.

In the women’s 400 IM, Emily Overholt has the top seed (4:34.70), with Kalisz leading the men’s field (4:05.90).

The women’s 50 free features Farida Osman (24.62), Olivia Smoliga (24.70), Lia Neal (24.77) and Worrell (24.79) leading the pack. Bruno Fratus (21.17) and Vladimir Morozov (21.44) come in slightly ahead of Adrian (21.47) in the men’s event.

Taylor Ruck, a 17-year-old, has the top seed in the 200 back (2:06.87) ahead of another 17-year-old, Lucie Nordmann (2:09.40). Ryan Murphy (1:53.62) and Jacob Pebley (1:54.77) lead the men’s field.

Smith (1:55.97) and Melanie Margalis (1:56.58) lead the women’s 200 free with Ruck (1:56.94) and Comerford (1:56.95) just behind. Conor Dwyer has the top spot for the men (1:45.23).

Hali Flickinger has the top seed in the 200 fly (2:06.67) with Conger the top male (1:54.47), just ahead of Pace Clark (1:54.58).

Efimova is tops in the 100 breast (1:04.36) and Cordes (58.64) and Miller (58.84) for the men.

Smoliga (58.77) has the top seed in the 100 backstroke ahead of Ruck (59.23) and Ali DeLoof (59.43). Murphy has the top men’s seed at 51.85.

Margalis holds the top spot in the 200 IM (2:08.70) with Kalisz leading the men (1:55.56).

Smith has the top spot in the women’s 400 IM (4:00.65) and Grothe (3:44.43) for the men. Smith also has the top 1500 free time at 16:01.02 with Clark Smith (15:05.97) leading the men’s field.
