NEW COMMIT: Tulane University has received a verbal commitment from sprinter Drew Petereit, the Vernon Hills, Ill. native who will join the Green Wave in fall of 2019.

Petereit swims year-round for Patriot Aquatic Club and has achieved the Winter Juniors standard in the 50 free. She competed at Junior West last winter and made a trio of finals appearances it the IL Senior Championships in March. She has made solid improvements over the last two seasons, shaving a half-second off her 50 free and just over two off her 100.

Petereit has raced at the IHSA State Championships the last two seasons representing Vernon Hills High School. She placed 11th in the 50 free as a junior and competed in the 50 free and 100 breast during her sophomore campaign.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Tulane University! The amazing academics, athletics, and team atmosphere makes me super pumped to be a part of the Green Wave team. I can’t wait to call Tulane and NOLA my new home! ROLL WAVE!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.48
  • 100 free – 52.58
  • 100 breast – 1:05.42
  • 200 breast – 2:24.70

Petereit will be incredibly valuable to the Green Wave when she suits up next fall following the graduation of their top sprinters and her fastest 50 free time would’ve scored in the B-final of the 2018 American Conference Championships. She will join Hailey Roberti as a member of the class of 2023.
