Though there continues to be debate over the late start for swimming finals at next year’s Olympic Games, fans around the world can now begin to order their tickets to watch the best athletes in the world compete for swimming’s ultimate prize.

The organizers of the 2016 Rio Olympics are accepting applications for the second wave of ticket availability to the general public on their official website. The process allows you to pick which of the 16 prelims and finals swimming sessions you would like to attend and where you would like to sit in the venue. Tickets for all Olympic sports are available on the website at varying costs and availability. With swimming among the top Summer Olympic sports, ticket demand is extremely high. Prices per session per person range from 260 Brazilian Reals (US$85) to 900 Brazilian Reals (US$296).

Once the process is complete, you’ll be entered in a general pool of other fans hoping to get tickets to what is always one of the most popular sports in the Summer Olympics. According to organizers, those who are picked for tickets will be contacted this July. Ordering ends April 30.

The first ticket draw was open only to residents of Brazil, and those tickets were just recently awarded.

Not totally accurate. They’re still only available to Brazilian residents if you apply through the Rio website. After this second raffle they will be available to the rest of the world. Maybe if you buy through a re-seller you can get them now…

Rubbish article. Totally untrue. One has to apply in rio website if you are local resident. the only way one can buy through is via reseller now.
