NEW COMMIT: After originally giving a verbal commitment to Texas, Cincinnati, Ohio’s Cora Dupre has since changed her verbal pledge. She will become an Indiana Hoosier in the fall of 2019.

Dupre does her club swimming with Mason Manta Rays and owns seven Winter Junior (or faster) cuts, including three U.S. Open standards. She capped off her long course season with a 19th-place finish in the 200m free at Junior Nationals after competing at Phillips 66 Nationals a week prior. She took seventh in the 50 free at Juniors East last winter and won the 50/100/200 free combo at ISCA Juniors in March.

Also competing for Mariemont High School, Dupre is a six-time Ohio State Championship finalist. She swept both the 50 and 100 freestyles as a junior and won the latter with a runner-up finish in the 200 free during her sophomore season. Dupre has earned NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m super excited to announce my commitment to swim for Indiana University! I really feel that this program is doing something special and I can’t thank my family and my coaches enough for helping me get to this point. Go Hoosiers!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.48
  • 100 free – 49.20
  • 200 free – 1:47.78
  • 100 back – 55.16
  • 200 back – 2:00.19
  • 100 fly – 55.92
  • 200 IM – 2:01.46

When she suits up for Hoosiers as a member of the class of 2023, Dupre will make an immediate impact in their sprint group which includes Ileah DoctorLaurel Eiber and Maria Heitman. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50/100 free as well as the C-final of the 200 free at the 2018 Big Ten Championships where Indiana finished second overall in the team standings.
