Thiago Pereira, Therese Alshammar Expand World Cup Leads
PHOENIX, Arizona, November 4. WITH one more World Cup meet this weekend in Stockholm, Sweden, Brazil's Thiago Pereira and Sweden's Therese Alshammar expanded their World Cup circuit points leadership.
Pereira, who already has chalked up $29,000 in race winnings, is on top of the men's standings for $100,000 with 138 points. South Africa's Darian Townsend (76) and Roland Schoeman (42) are second and third in the men's rankings.
Alshammar, meanwhile, stands first among the women with 112 points on top of the $23,500 she's already earned in race winnings. USA's Julia Smit (88) and The Netherlands' Hinkelien Schreuder (50) are second and third.
The overall winners of the World Cup standings will win $100,000, while second place takes $50,000 and third place earns $30,000. Additionally, each race winner earns $1,500, while second takes $1,000 and third place takes $500.
