The Morning Swim Show: News from South African championships, Paralympics; Peter Vanderkaay Talks About Olympics and Living With Asthma
PHOENIX, Arizona, September 10. A video interview with Olympic gold and bronze medalist Peter Vanderkaay is the focus of today's edition of The Morning Swim Show.
In this interview with host Peter Busch, Vanderkaay talks about his experiences in Beijing, where he won gold as part of the USA 800 free relay and won bronze in the 200 freestyle. As an asthmatic, Vanderkaay talks about his early fears about being in Beiing, where pollution and smog were reportedly at highly dangerous levels for asthmatics.
Vanderkaay is working with www.asthmyths.com to alleviate some of the fears kids and adults with asthma might have about participating in a sport such as swimming. Vanderkaay talks about the ways he has helped control his asthma and how he is in continual discussion with his doctor about treatment options.
