NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has a new addition to their women’s roster for the 2022-23 season: Duru Tanriverdi of Ankara, Turkey.

She will join Manita Sathianchokwisan, Sarah LankfordBlakely Schuricht and Hadley Beeson as a member of the Aggies’ Class of 2026.

In LCM, her best times include:

  • 800 freestyle – 8:46.83
  • 1500 freestyle – 16:38.51
  • 200 butterfly – 2:15.36
  • 400 IM – 4:53.88
  • 200 freestyle – 2:09.45
  • 400 freestyle – 4:21.45

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 800 freestyle – 9:50.28
  • 1500 freestyle – 16:18.93
  • 200 butterfly – 1:59.42
  • 400 IM – 4:18.99
  • 200 freestyle – 1:53.73
  • 400 freestyle – 4:52.94

Tanriverdi represented Turkey at the 2021 European Junior Championships in July. There, she finished 16th in the 1500m free, 25th in the 200m fly, and 22nd in the 400m IM. She also competed at the meet in 2018, placing 18th in the 800m free.

Tanriverdi currently trains with the Fenerbahce Sports Club.

Her best times (converted to yards) would’ve ranked her No. 2 last year on the Aggies’ roster in both the 1000 free and mile, the latter which would’ve scored at the 2021 SEC Championships.
