NEW COMMIT: Colorado State University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Futures qualifier Ashlyn Hembree of Richmond, Texas.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at Colorado State University! I’m so thankful for my family, friends, teammates, and coaches who helped me get to where I am and make this happen. Both the CSU coaches and swimmers are supportive and welcoming. I can’t wait to call CSU my home! GO RAMS!”

A versatile swimmer, Hembree does her club swimming with First Colony Swim Team and earned a best time at the FCST Long Course Invite in April where she won four events. She had a strong showing at Des Moines Futures in August 2019 and competed on relays at Juniors West that December.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 51.99
  • 100 breast – 1:05.24
  • 200 breast – 2:20.64
  • 100 fly – 56.81
  • 200 IM – 2:05.59
  • 400 IM – 4:28.72

A rising senior at George Ranch High School, Hembree placed eighth in the 200 IM at the Texas 6A State Championships this past season. She was the runner-up in that event at the Region V meet as well.

The Rams are bringing in Erin Dawson, Maya WhiteEmily Chorpening and Katie McClelland this fall, so Hembree will have two years of overlap with them.

Under head coach Chris Woodard, Colorado State finished fifth at the 2021 Mountain West Championships.
