Swimming World Honors 2008 Synchronized Swimmers of the Year
PHOENIX, Arizona, November 23. SO far, Swimming World has announced the 2008 Divers and Water Polo Players of the Year. Today, we honor the best in synchronized swimming, as announced in the December issue.
Russia's duo of Anastasia Davydova and Anastasia Ermakova take synchronization to the next level as the pair are almost identical in every way. Both swimmers, who are 25 years old, have been swimming together for a decade and have trained together from their home town of Moscow.
The tandem led Russia to a dominant effort at the 2008 Beijing Olympics as the Anastasias won the duet gold, while helping the Russians win the overall team gold as well.
In the duet competition, the Anastasias posted a score of 99.500 that featured perfect 10s across the board in technical merit.
