NEW COMMIT: Stanford University has received their third verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Olympic Trials qualifier Henry Morrissey of Philadelphia, Pa.

He will join Josh Zuchowski and Liam Custer on The Farm next fall, giving the Cardinal some of the biggest recruits in the Class of 2026 thus far.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Stanford University! I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends who helped me get to this point! Thrilled to join the farm! Go Card!!! ??? #fearthetree”

A talented freestyler, Morrissey trains year-round with Germantown Academy Aquatics and most recently earned five best times at the JW Summer Solstice in June. In 2019, he finished fifth in the 1500m free at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Greensboro.

A rising senior at Germantown Academy, Morrissey won the 500 free and raced to seventh in the 200 free at the Eastern Interscholastic League Championships as a junior.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:41.26
  • 500 free – 4:24.12
  • 1000 free – 9:08.07
  • 1650 free – 15:04.80

He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Morrissey’s best time in the mile would’ve ranked third in the mile on Stanford’s lineup last season and would’ve scored in seventh at the 2021 Pac-12 Championships.

The Cardinal are also bringing in Avery VossHayden ZhengMatt FenlonHayden Kwan and Gabe Machado this fall.
