Speedo Western Championships: Chad Bobrosky Doubles Up
SASKATOON, Canada, February 18. DURING the first day of short course meter swimming at the Speedo Western Championships held in Saskatoon, Chad Bobrosky snared a pair of titles – one individual and one as a relay leadoff.
Carmen Nam claimed the women's 1500 free crown with a 17:05.16, while Nadine Williams finished second in 17:05.98. Emma Sproule rounded out the podium with a 17:06.28 for third. Bobrosky cruised in the men's 800 free with a triumphant time of 8:05.33. Tom Krywitsky placed second in 8:15.46, while Bruno Sharpe snagged third in 8:20.38.
Natasha Fung, Madison Mills, Paige Kremer and Deanna Matthews won the women's 800 free relay in 8:09.56, while Bobrosky, Krywitsky, Karl Wolk and James Kendrick captured the men's 800 free relay title in 7:29.59.
In preliminary qualifying, Lindsay Delmar paced the women's 50 fly in 27.33, while Chris Manning posted a 24.91 for the top men's 50 fly time. Tianna Rissling turned in a 31.79 to lead the way in the women's 50 breast, while Chris Tobin posted a 29.33 in the men's 50 breast for the top seed. Hanna Kubas clocked a 28.44 to earn the top seed in the women's 50 back, while Braeden Newton hit the wall in 26.18 in the men's 50 back.
