Speed Show: Multiple Arizona State 200 Freestyle Relays Sizzle in Dual-Meet Finale
As Arizona State dispatched rival Arizona in their latest dual-meet matchup, the Sun Devils punctuated the regular season with another show of impressive speed. In the meet-ending 200-yard freestyle relay, Coach Herbie Behm’s squad unleashed a pair of sizzling performances that further emphasized the incredible depth of ASU’s sprint contingent. And for good measure, Arizona State delivered another terrific effort in the 200 medley relay.
The Sun Devils’ sprint power was particularly on display in the 200 freestyle relay. Victory in the event went to the foursome of Quin Seider (19.41), Tommy Palmer (18.40), Adam Chaney (18.50) and Jonny Kulow (18.37), who combined for a time of 1:14.68. Right behind was the quartet of Seth Crow (20.11), Ilya Kharun (18.31), Remi Fabiani (18.35) and Tolu Young (18.59), who registered a time of 1:15.36.
With multiple options at his disposal, how Behm will construct his 200 freestyle relay for the NCAA Championships will be an interesting storyline. He can go in a number of directions and regardless of the lineup, expect the Sun Devils to challenge the NCAA record of 1:12.80, set last year by Tennessee. Arizona State’s school record sits at 1:13.05, posted at the 2025 NCAA Champs.
Beyond the freestyle relay, Arizona State also notched another quick performance in the 200 medley during the meet against Arizona. A 1:20.81 mark was supplied by the group of Chaney, Andy Dobrzanski, Kharun and Kulow. On the fly leg, Kharun turned in his latest sub-19 split.
