Six-Time Indiana State Championship Finalist Molly Pedersen Makes 2021 Verbal to Penn State

NEW COMMIT: Penn State has added a new verbal commitment from Molly Pedersen of Fishers, Ind., who will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021.

She will join Molly Carson, Shelby Kahn, Marly Lough, Maura Fluehr and Mac Sullivan in State College as members of the Nittany Lions’ class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic careers at Penn State University! I’d like to thank my coaches, teammates, friends and most importantly my family who got me to this point.”

A talented backstroker and freestyler, Pedersen swims year-round with Southeastern Swim Club and is a Futures qualifier. Last summer, she registered five lifetime bests at Indiana LCM Seniors where she finaled in four events before going on to competed on the 4x100m medley relay at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.88
  • 100 free – 50.83
  • 200 free – 1:50.07
  • 500 free – 5:02.55
  • 100 back – 56.28
  • 200 back – 2:02.94

Also competing for Hamilton Southeastern High School, Pedersen is a six-time Indiana State Championship finalist. She placed sixth in the 200 free and seventh in the 100 free as a junior while taking seventh and fourth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Pedersen will add valuable backstroke and freestyle depth when she suits up for the Nittany Lions at the start of the 2021-22 season. She’ll add her talents to training groups that’ll include Abbie Amdor, Kathleen Sheridan, Marie Schobel, and Maddie Hart.
