Notre Dame’s Relay Record Highlights Shamrock Invitational

Notre Dame hosted Iowa, Illinois State, Grand Canyon, and Missouri State in the annual Shamrock Invitational at the Rolfs Aquatic Center on Jan. 29-30.
The Irish men beat Missouri State 230-128, but fell to Grand Canyon 224.5-145.5 and Iowa 220-150. The Notre Dame women defeated Iowa 258-111, Illinois State 312-58, and Grand Canyon 254-115.
Day One
The Notre Dame team of Catherine Mulquin, Cat Galletti, Tayde Revilak, and Ella Moynihan won the women’s 200 free relay (1:23.53). The team of Mulquin, Danielle Margheret, Galletti, and Moynihan also won the 400 medley relay (3:43.47).
The Fighting Irish team of Justin Plaschka, Tabahn Afrik, Reed Fujan, and Daniel Speers took second in the 200 free relay (1:21.25). Bogac Ayhan, Andrew Jensen, Matthew Grauslys, and Afrik finished third in the 400 medley relay (3:20.20).
Notre Dame swept the women’s 1 diving, led by Emma Gaboury (284.65), followed by Lindsey Streepey (276.30) and Annie Crea (275.30).
The Fighting Irish also swept the women’s 500 free, won by Moynihan (4:55.07). Teammates Alice Treuth (4:59.30) and Molly Treble (5:01.53) finished second and third, respectively.
Day Two
Both the women’s 200 medley relay (1:42.41) and 800 free relay (7:31.05) won on day two. Revilak led Notre Dame’s sweep of the women’s 100 fly, winning in 54.95.
Moynihan won the women’s 200 free (1:51.35), followed by teammate Kyra Sarazen (1:52.65). Trent Jackson won the men’s 200 free (1:40.00).
Other Notre Dame event winners included Mulquin in the women’s 100 free (50.42), Nicole Smith in the women’s 200 fly (2:02.06), and Katie Miller in the women’s 400 IM (4:23.91).
The team of Mulquin, Moynihan, Galletti, and Revilak concluded the meet by winning the 400 free relay (3:20.29), breaking the previous pool record of 3:21.16 set back in 2013.
The Fighting Irish compete next at the ACC Championships in Greensboro.
