With college season in full swing the SEC and AAC have released their list of weekly honors, naming the male and female swimmer, freshman (SEC only), and diver of the week after competitive weekends.

SEC HONORS:

Auburn’s Joe Patching took home Male Swimmer of the Week for the SEC after contributing to Auburn’s 171-129 victory over Kentucky by claiming victory in three events. Patching posted the top times in the nation for the 200 back (1:44.69) and 200 IM (1:49.03), adding a win in the 200 free (1:37.65) for good measure. Fellow Tiger Julie Meynen earned the honor of Female Freshman of the Week for her sprint freestyle performances against Kentucky. Meynen delivered the top time in both the 50 free (23.00) and 100 free (49.52), with her 100 free currently ranked sixth-fastest in the nation.

Missouri collected three separate honors this week with Kyle Goodwin, Katharine Ross, and Lauren Reedy earning the honors of Male Diver, Female Swimmer, and Female Diver of the Week respectively. Goodwin swept the springboards in Mizzou’s dual against Alabama, earning 374.48 on the 3-meter and 329.48 on the 1-meter. Ross swept the breaststroke events, clocking a 1:01.19 in the 100 breaststroke and a 2:15.37 in the 200. Reedy added victories in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards in addition to a new school record of 381.98 in the 3-meter.

Alabama’s Zane Waddell dashed to a sizzling 19.95 in the 50 free–currently the fastest time by a freshman, second fastest in the SEC, and fourth fastest overall in the nation for the 2016-17 season–earning him the title of Male Freshman of the Week.

AAC HONORS:

SMU’s Matea Samardzic earned Female Swimmer of the Week for the AAC after being named the high-point swimmer at the SMU Classic this past weekend. Samardzic topped the competition in the 100 (52.92) and 200 (1:53.69) back, along with a second-place finish in the 200 IM (1:59.43) and third in the 400 IM (4:12.52). Her 200 back time currently stands as the fastest in the country for the 2016-17 season and is a new Classic record.

Monica Marcello of UConn swept the springboard events in a double dual against the University of Bridgeport and Keene State earning her Female Diver of the Week. Marcello finished with scores of 284.62 and 287.10 for the 1-meter and 3-meter respectively.

Grega Popovic of ECU claimed two first place finishes in his debut collegiate meet, posting wins in both the 500 (4:42.27) and 1000 (9:38.48) free to be named Male Swimmer of the Week.
