Quebec Cup: Keith Beavers Doubles Up
MONTREAL, Quebec, March 8. IN the second night of long course competition at the Quebec Cup, Keith Beavers garnered a pair of titles. Beavers walked away with wins in the 100 back (57.43) and 200 IM (2:03.38).
Meanwhile, the men's 50 free was a star-studded event as Fred Bousquet upended a pack of The Race Club members with a time of 22.09. George Bovell (22.58), Gary Hall Jr. (22.70) and Salim Iles (23.00) of The Race Club took second through fourth.
Andrew Hurd completed wins for the men as he touched in a provincial record of 1:49.21 in the 200 free.
In women's events, Stephanie Horner in the 200 free (2:00.79), Gabrielle Soucisse in the 100 back (1:03.05), Victoria Poon in the 50 free (25.84), Paige Schultz in the 200 IM (2:20.54) and Barbara Jardin in the 800 free (8:48.91) wound up with wins.
In disabled events, Valerie Grand-Maison won the women's 50 free in 28.73, while Benoit Huot earned the men's 50 free title in 25.59. Grand-Maison also claimed the 200 IM in 2:34.58, while Huot took the men's 200 IM in 2:23.46.
In relays, the team of Caroline Murray, Kristen Bradley, Parnela Veilleux and Chanelle Charron-Watson won the women's 800 free relay in 8:18.68, while a team of Adam Szoo, Frederic Marois, Eric Cantin and Maxime Roux Dubois claimed the men's 800 free relay in 8:05.41.
