Prilukov Wins Pair at Russian Spring Champs
MOSCOW, Russia, March 29. TIMES weren’t exactly sizzling at the Russian Spring Nationals. But, several familiar names walked away with championships, highlighted by Yuri Prilukov. The distance standout delivered triumphs in the 400 and 800 freestyle events. After clocking 3:51.29 for the shorter race, Prilukov covered the 800 free in 7:53.12.
There were several other double-winners from the male side of competition, including Andrei Kapralov in the sprints (23.05/50.78) and Nikolai Skvortsov in the 100 and 200 butterfly events, where he went respective marks of 53.95 and 1:59.66. Igor Berezutsky doubled in the 200 and 400 I.M. disciplines, thanks to swims of 2:03.62 and 4:21.76. Arkady Vyatchanin prevailed in the 100 backstroke (56.13) and Dimitri Komornikov touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.22).
In the women’s meet, Anastasia Ivanenko cruised to triumphs in the 400, 800 and 1,5000 freestyles, along with the 400 I.M. Ivanenko posted a time of 4:14.95 in the 400 and added swims of 8:43.70 and 16:36.79 in the longer events. Her medley time was 4:47.24. Stanislava Komarova also collected three wins, as she swept the backstroke races – 50 (29.70), 100 (1:02.34) and 200 (2:13.76). Ekaterina Kormacheva won the 100 breast (1:10.79) and 200 breast (2:30.38).
