Kelsi Worrell claimed her Olympic berth after finishing first in the women’s 100 fly. Her swift 56.48 is the second fastest in the world this year and a new personal best time.

Worrell, who trains with the University of Louisville, is the current American record holder in the 100 fly in both short course yards and short course meters.

The first-time Olympian said she feels relieved and felt like she was able to enjoy herself during the race. She is also scheduled to swim the 200 fly, 100 free, and 50 free this week in Omaha.

Worrell talked to the media after her race about the transition from short course to long course, her relationship with head coach Arthur Albiero, and the role her faith and family have in her swimming.
