LONDON, England, September 20. FRENCHMAN Philippe Croizon swam across the English Channel on Saturday in 13.5 hours, becoming the first quadruple amputee to complete the swim, according to a report in the London Daily Mail.
Croizon, a 42-year-old father of two, used specially-designed flippers on his leg stumps and a snorkel to help him breathe.
"I did it! It's mad!" were Philippe's first words on arrival, saying he wanted to become ‘a representative of someone overcoming his restrictions.
"I've done this for myself, for my family, and for all those who have suffered tragedy and lost their taste for life," Croizon told the Daily Mail.
