Paul Pijulet Named Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimmer of the Week
Queens University of Charlotte men’s swimmer Paul Pijulet was named the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimmer of the Week for week two of competition as announced by the league office today. Pijulet, who is competing in his first season with the team, found two individual wins during the team’s meet against Wingate on Friday, October 28.
Pijulet helped the Royals defeat the No. 13th ranked team in the nation on Friday as he found a “B” Standard swim in the men’s 100 yard butterfly. Pijulet touched the wall in a time of 48.86 for first overall, falling under the qualifying NCAA mark.
Again finding the wall under the “B” Standard Cut, Pijulet took the top swim in the men’s 100 yard backstroke reaching for a 49.35 in the event.
He finished the meet with a swim in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Taking the third leg of the event, Pijulet along with Dion Dreesens, Ben Mayes, and Nicholas Arakelian, respectively, found the wall in a 3:02.22 for the first place finish. He swam a 44.61 split in the event.
On the women’s side, Margaret Stansberry, from Carson-Newman, took the honor after grabbing two first place swims over the weekend going 23.88 in the 50 yard freestyle and 2:10.97 in the 200 yard individual medley. She concluded the meet with a victory in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
This is Pijulet’s first Swimmer of the Week nod from the conference the team’s second of the season.
