For the final episode of Off Deck for 2016, freelance swimming journalist Jeff Commings joined Swimming World TV host David Rieder to share their top moments from an exceptional year of swimming in 2016.

Rieder and Commings reflected on Michael Phelps’ finale performance and discussed whether they were surprised to see Katie Ledecky break records by the margins she did in Rio. Commings, a former National Team breaststroker, also explained what it was like to see Adam Peaty swim a 57.13 in the 100 breast and shared his reaction to Simone Manuel’s Olympic gold medal-winning performance in the women’s 100 free.

The two also discussed some of the most newsworthy stories to hit swimming this year. Be sure to watch the full show below, and check back in 2017 for more episodes of Off Deck!

Bring Back Jeff!! What a disaster it was when Brent replaced him on camera. Sorry, Brent, I know your ego is too fragile for that kind of feedback, but I’m being honest. Jeff is great. You’re awkward. Do with it what you will.

Love Brent’s Ready Room Interviews and his recent interview with Shirley Babashoff. I think Jeff left two years ago to teach swim lessons in Tucson with his husband. David Rieder, a great young talent, replaced Jeff. Get it straight Mr. Know-Nothing!
