Men’s 200 IM

Queens sophomore Marius Kusch took the men’s 200 IM in a swift 1:44.36, beating out defending 2016 Champion Victor Polyakov by more than a second. Kusch took the butterfly out hard in 21.28, more than a second faster than anyone in the field, and extended that led through the backstroke. While he was starting to fade a bit on the freestyle leg, he had enough of a cushion to comfortably take the win.

Simon Fraser junior Adrian VanderHelm took third in 1:46.05 to round of the podium. Queens picked up some big points in this event, with juniors Inigo Alarcia and Zach Bunner joining Kusch in the championship final to give Queens 45 points from the event.
