Northway Sentenced to Jail

TUCSON, Ariz. – Doug Northway, the 1972 Olympic bronze medalist in the 1500m freestyle, was sentenced to jail in Tucson, Ariz., for attempted molestation of a 9-year-old girl. Northway, 42, who was also a member of the gold-medal-winning 800m freestyle relay at the 1976 Olympics, was ordered to spend four months behind bars. He also was sentenced to four months of house arrest and lifetime probation.
