Northern Michigan Continues Recruiting Push With Verbals from Patrick Andrews, Jackson Cotter

NEW COMMITS: Springfield, Va. native Patrick Andrews and Jackson Cotter of Albuquerque, New Mexico have both handed their verbal commitments to Northern Michigan University.

Both talented swimmers will join Nathan True, Dean Ramsbottom, and Ezra Billings in Marquette, Mich. as members of the Wildcats’ class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Northern Michigan University! I want to thank my family, coaches, teammates, & friends for supporting me. Go Wildcats!”

Andrews swims year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and placed seventh in the 400 IM, 11th in the 500 free, and 16th in the 1000 free at Potomac Valley Seniors in February. Last summer, he won the 800m free and grabbed bronze in the 200m fly at the Potomac Valley LCM 13&o Championships.

His best times include:

  • 200 IM – 1:59.16
  • 400 IM – 4:009.88
  • 500 free – 4:44.88
  • 1000 free – 9:49.93

Also competing for West Springfield High School, Andrews finished 13th in the 500 free at the Virginia Class 6 State Championships during his junior season.

 

JACKSON COTTER

He told Swimming World:

“I’m extremely proud and excited to announce my commitment to North Michigan University. I’m very grateful I get to continue my academic journey at such a beautiful and fantastic school. I see many great opportunities ahead of me. Thank you to all the people who truly supported me along the way. I can’t wait to be a Wildcat!”

Cotter does his club swimming with Rio Aquatics of Central New Mexico and earned two best times at the North Texas Senior Meet #3 in December where his highest finish was an eighth-place showing in the mile. He also raced six events at Arena Western Zones last long course season en route to notching a pair of PBs.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:47.11
  • 500 free – 4:44.75
  • 1000 free – 9:59.73
  • 1650 free – 16:40.03

Currently a senior at Cibola High School, Cotter is a five-time New Mexico State Championship finalist. He placed fourth in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 free as a junior while taking second and sixth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.
